Workshop "Scientific Publishing: A look at the other side"

Researchers actively publishing their results will be able identifying guidelines, which might help their teams to maintain a high standard in scientific publishing

Disseminating your results to the scientific community through publications is an essential activity of any scientist in a research environment. Choosing the most appropriate journal for a publication can significantly influence the visibility and reputation of your work. In addition, discussions in the scientific community with respect to the validity of different publishing models, reproducibility of results, proper ethical conduct and the validity of ever increasing publication costs (direct and indirect) are increasingly influencing policy makers, funding agencies and even the general public.

Gregor Cicchetti, who has worked 10 years in the publishing industry before joining PSI, will give an overview on what the different publishing models and indexes mean, what are the roles of the different players involved, how to interact efficiently with publishers and how to assess their quality and integrity.

You will discuss in break-out sessions the different challenges in scientific publishing aiming at identifying guidelines, which might help your teams to maintain a high standard in scientific publishing
