Target Audience
This workshop is aimed at PhD candidates and Postdocs


Targets

In this workshop, we focus on best practice of writing texts. Participants have the opportunity of getting conscious of the habits, strengths and weaknesses of their writing routine. Based on that experience they will become acquainted with methods to efficiently compose scientific or technical documentations and to do that with ease. We will also have a look at the issue of obstacles to flowing writing and how to overcome them. In addition, we discuss the planning of a writing project, from the first idea on to the complete text, finishing in time.

  • Strategies and tools for efficiency in technical writing
  • How to use checklists as a writing tool
  • How to overcome our inner criticism by creativity
  • Additional: Individual consulting on Thursday, 12th December

Methods
Informative inputs, writing exercises, activities in small groups as well as individual ones, application to the own writing project(s)

PSI Education Center OSGA (room see Infopoint at the entrance)

 
Duration
One day: 26th November (08:30 - 16:30)
The additional individual consulting will take place on appointment face to face (12.12.2019), by Skype or by phone. It is CHF 150.- per 45 minutes.
 
Preparation
Participants bring – if at hand – their actual writing project and their own laptop. If there is no actual writing task, maybe there is a previous or a projected one or just a few ideas. Or maybe you just like to get inspiration for your writing practice.

Cost
Target audience for this course are PhD's and Postdocs (cost of CHF 50.-). Other PSI employees can only be considered in case of spare capacity (cost CHF 450.- ) external particpants (cost CHF 540.-)
